Chris Jonas’ remarkable composed suites [are] subtle breakthroughs and fantastic journeys.
-Ann Powers, The New York Times
A deeply nuanced world — Jonas crafts a richly expansive sound that stresses subtle timbral shadings and tersely composed phrases punctuated by sudden bursts of flavorful improvisation… Distinctive, accessible, simple and achingly beautiful.
– Michael Kremer, Jazziz
The music of the Chris Jonas Trio will contain elements of a classic jazz trio, but will be working with colors and sounds outside of the usual domains of traditional jazz, mixing elements that are challenging, quirky, delicate, weirdly groovy, polyphonic, and a mixture of the disjointed and melodic. The Trio of Chris Jonas on saxophones, Rob Lundberg on bass and Will Dyar on drums and percussion will be joined by guest Dan Pearlman on cornet.
