A handful of very exciting shows have popped up on the local venue calendars this week.

Messthetics, the explosive new trio featuring Fugazi’s rhythm section of Brendan Canty and Joe Lally will play a free Mothlight Monday show on April 9th. The incredibly talented Shane Parish will open.

Speaking of Free Mothlight Mondays, Jaimie Branch and Party Knüllers (Fred Lonberg-Holm and Stoli L. Sozzleberg) will join forces on June 4th for what should be a wild night of experimental jazz madness. http://themothlight.com/party-knullers-x-jaimie-branch/

Kurt Vile & The Violators have announced that they’ll be at the Orange Peel on July 12th.

The legendary Lou Barlow (Dinosaur Jr/Sebadoh) is at Fleetwood’s on April 22nd, and for the right price you can have brunch with Lou and his dad. And talented singer-songwriter Mason Jennings will play Ambrose West on May 20th.

Tickets go on sale at 10am for Jenny Don’t and the Spurs (featuring members of Pierced Arrows, Dead Moon and The Wipers), who play the Grey Eagle on May 15th.

Lastly, fun-loving power pop trio Peach Kelli Pop brings their feel good energy to The Mothlight on June 7th.
