WHY YOU’LL LOVE IT

There’s few bands, if any, that have remained as consistent as Low has over the course of as much as two decades. Released in 1994, Low’s debut I Could Live in Hope has gone on to be one of the defining albums of the sub-genre slowcore. Working from the minimal foundation they set on that debut, Alan Sparhawk, Mimi Parker and an assortment of bassists have continued to work with a seemingly limited palette to create a rather remarkably varied discography. Ones & Sixes is Low’s 11th full length LP and shows that the band is far from losing their vitality. Following the more stripped down feel of 2013’s Jeff Tweedy-produced The Invisible Way, Ones and Sixes steps back towards the more sonically expansive territory of their earlier 2000s output like fan favorite Things We Lost in the Fire. Continuing a more recent trend, Mimi Parker takes the vocal lead on more songs than probably any other Low record, which helps give Ones & Sixes its identity.
